About Type Of Yoga

Ashtanga (Power) Yoga

The powerful, dynamic form of Yoga is traditionally taught in South India. The main feature of this form of Yoga is the flowing sequence of asanas, which remain the same in their sequence.

A harmonious flow of exercises is created. There are different series that vary in difficulty. The different series serve to harmonize different levels of body and mind.

Bhakti Yoga

Bhakti is a Sanskrit term that means “loving devotion to God” or “to give oneself completely to God”. Bhakti uses feelings as a way to get close to God and unite with him. Some of the branches of Bhakti Yoga are named after the gods that are worshipped.

The god Krishna plays a special role within Bhakti Yoga. Followers of this branch are convinced that it is an effective method of achieving liberation. The “devotion” required for this can be directed through concentration.

Type Of Yoga

Hatha Yoga

Hatha means sun and moon, male and female and opposing tendencies in the body. Hatha Yoga balances the dualities that exist in the body and mind. The postures are only one part of Hatha Yoga. Breathing and relaxation are also important components. The subtle energies of the body are used to promote the flow of prana.

This is done through breathing techniques that cleanse the nadis. The central spiritual channel can flow upwards through the chakras. The subtle body is stabilized. Consciousness is strengthened. .

Bikram Yoga

Bikram Yoga originates from India and was further developed in California by its namesake Bikram Choudhura. An important feature is the temperature of the room in which the exercises are practiced. The room is 40 degrees, which is adapted to Indian climate conditions. 26 postures from Hatha Yoga are practiced in a consistent sequence. This takes place over a period of 90 minutes.

The high room temperature ensures that the muscles and tendons are not put under strain. The circulation is also stimulated and constant drinking and sweating promotes the detoxification of the body. Fresh, oxygen-rich blood thus reaches every cell in the body.

Iyengar Yoga

The style of yoga was named after the yogi who practiced it. The exercises do not adhere to the traditional sequences. It is a powerful style that emphasizes physical movement while taking into account the meditative aspects of the philosophical system of the Yoga Sutras according to Patanjali.

Through concentration, “meditation in motion” becomes conscious.

Jnana Yoga

The “path of knowledge” means striving for knowledge of the ultimate truth. Jnana Yoga is the yoga of wisdom. The question arises about the meaning of existence, where do I come from? Who am I?

When the mind no longer knows the answer to this, the spirit experiences a shift into the void as a result of failure and consciousness unfolds. The activities of the mind conceal the perception of reality. Meditation is the technique of Jnana Yoga. Important terms are reincarnation and karma.

Type Of Yoga

Karma Yoga

Examples of this are Mother Theresa and Mahatma Gandhi. Karma Yoga does not require any particular skills. It means “selfless action” without expecting thanks.

All actions are an offering to the divine. A higher being to whom one can dedicate the fruits makes selfless action meaningful. Great willpower is required to do everyday things with true selflessness. Karma Yoga is also related to higher states of consciousness.

Kundalini Yoga

By practicing Kundalini Yoga, the Kundalini energy is released. The Kundalini is often seen as a sleeping snake that can be awakened through yoga techniques and rises through the chakras. This is associated with spiritual experiences and feelings of happiness that are described as overwhelming.

The yoga practice serves to allow the energy flow freely through the chakras and to avoid blockages. The practice of Kundalini Yoga also includes asanas, pranayama, mudras and mantras.
