Why Yoga?

Most people develop an interest in Yoga because they are attracted to the holistic approach, the connection between body, mind and soul. Yoga is a philosophical teaching that has its origins in India and combines various exercises such as asanas (posture), pranayama (breathing), meditation and deep relaxation. The Yoga courses are also designed according to this principle.

The many different forms of differ greatly from one another in terms of philosophy and practice. In Western Europe, the focus of yoga classes is often on the physical aspect of the exercises (asanas), whereas mental concentration is the main focus of meditative forms of Yoga. Practicing asanas can help the body to give impulses when it has become unbalanced.

Muscle endurance, strength, flexibility, sense of balance and elasticity are trained, for example a tense neck can be brought back into balance, the back muscles are strengthened, which leads to improved posture, diabetes can be stabilized and high blood pressure can be reduced. However, it cannot be said that a certain asana has the same effect on everyone. The effect always depends on the individual’s circumstances. An additional effect of Yoga practice is learning to treat our bodies with care, and it paves the way to positive experiences with ourselves. To ensure that the exercises are not performed incorrectly, they should be learned under professional guidance in a Yoga course and not just from books.

What Is Yoga

There are no special requirements to start. Each individual’s Yoga practice is shaped by their background, their possibilities and conditions. In a Yoga course, everyone can be guided to the exercises that suit their individual needs. Someone who has knee problems will need different exercises than someone who suffers from chronic back pain.
In any case, the inner attitude is crucial for the success of Yoga practice. We ourselves are responsible for our health and can have positive effects on our mental and physical health by regularly attending a Yoga course. Complaints such as headaches, sleep disorders, back pain and diabetes, as well as nervous complaints, can be reduced.

In some Yoga styles, the prevention aspect is the main concern, in others it is just a side effect. Many people who take part in Yoga courses particularly appreciate the calming, balancing effect and the balance that they can counteract the stress of everyday life. An integral part of the Yoga courses are breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation and the associated inner contemplation, as well as the development of inner serenity.
